Their is no "Great Reset"
Their is no "Great Replacement"
Their is no (insert conspiracy theory)
We're going to fucking die if we don't solve climate change.
And were not going to be successful, unless we stop Capitalism
That's it, that's literally what's happening.
Scientists have even said so.
They release the same damn report, with the same damn conclusions every quarter.
@tendigits oh yes!
@peggysue is this a virtual or at Vivo event?
"As I've written, it's not just that every billionaire is a policy failure: every billionaire is a factory for producing policy failures at scale" — Cory Doctorow
The downsides of a world with billionaires in it are well-rehearsed: billionaires can convert their vast wealth to power, and use that power to turn their whims and pet theories into policy failures that affect millions - or even billions - of people.
Take Bill Gates. Forget all the conspiracy theories about Gates and vaccines - it's bizarre that people bother to make up those fairy-tales when the truth is so much worse.

@neauoire ah! I'm not alone in my appreciation for the Idiot birds:
"However the real reason for its apparently unimaginative behaviour is that it has a big heart and is fond of every bird. So when you call x to the Identity bird, the reason it responds by calling back x is not that it can't think of anything else; it's just that it wants you to know that it is fond of x." — https://dkeenan.com/Lambda/
@neauoire I do feel the Idiot bird has been hard done by— is not the echo or memeisis, the starting point for creative practice? Do not the smartest birds have the capacity to immitate others and there by show some capacity for knowledge of their place amongst other birds, _hark_ a proto self awareness!
;)
ps, this is lovely.

The makers of @pixelfed, the Fediverse photo sharing platform, have just created a slick new guide to the Fediverse at:
It's got a list of Fedi projects, a list of mobile apps for Fedi platforms and an opt-in directory of people to follow.
The directory is particularly interesting as it works very differently to FediFollows or Trunk. You add hashtags to your profile plus a special extra hashtag #Fedi22, then submit your profile to the site, and it will become searchable for the tags in your profile.
(And, yes, Mastodon is part of the Fediverse, see here for details: https://mstdn.social/@feditips/108215973331591896)
@exquisitecorp I only do computer tasks in the morning, I don't think I could give you any useful ritual if you're a night owl.
Generally, I "create" in the morning, I "maintain" in the afternoon, and I "explore" in the evening. I wake up with the sun, and read when the sun sets.
“It’s not a problem of getting people to express themselves but of providing little gaps of solitude and silence in which they might eventually find something to say. Repressive forces don’t stop people from expressing themselves but rather force them to express themselves. What a relief to have nothing to say, the right to say nothing, because only then is there a chance of framing the rare, and ever rarer, thing that might be worth saying.”

..."Still, the reasoning goes, the simulation hypothesis might be true. It’s possible enough that we have to take it seriously. Bostrom estimates a 1-in-3 chance that we are sims. Chalmers estimates about 25%."
...
"But before we adopt too relaxed an attitude, consider who has the God-like power to create and destroy worlds in a simulated universe. Not a benevolent deity. Not timeless, stable laws of physics. Instead, basically gamers."...
